ISLAMORADA BACKCOUNTRY REPORT

I am a female flats and backcountry guide that has fished along side World Class Guides here in Islamorada and the Florida Keys for over 20 years. My passion is fishing and my love is seeing anglers catch and release the many saltwater gamefish native to the Florida Keys such as bonefish, tarpon, permit, redfish, snook or trout! I would love to see you come and embark on the best travel destination for Saltwater Sportsfishing, and sightcasting for our gamefish. Whether you're a novice, intermediate or advanced angler our backcountry flats offer great light tackle and fly fishing. I do offer no pressure fly and light tackle instruction and family charters are welcomed

I feel the enthusiasm build every time an angler hooks up to one of our gamefish. Seeing the expression on their face is rewarding enough for me to keep on fishing. It is the best experience the anglers and I have on a one to one basis for sightcasting on light tackle and fly.  Come fish the beautiful waters of our island chain in Islamorada, of the Florida Keys and Everglades National Park.

The fishing report has been esquite since this warm weather, with lots of large tarpon around the bridges, channels, and backcountry with lots of mullet muds, and crabs.

Bonefishing has also improved immensely with some big fish being reported from 9lgs and up to 12lbs and bigger on the oceanside and bayside flats of Islamorada.

Permit fishing has been on the edges of the flats in the Islamorada area both oceanside, and bayside, and using crabs or jigs tipped with shrimp is a great  catch.

Backcountry fishing has been great with some big snook, nice redfish, and some really nice size snapper, ladyfish, and big sharks.

Hammerheads have been around the bridges and channels waiting to feed on those big tarpon, and remember these are not something to fool around with by putting feet into the water.

We had a 9ft, Hammerhead on, on an evening trip, got him to the boat, and when the pictures come, we will post on the website.  Congrats to Doc Iian, and his friend Roo.

Also had some nice hook ups with those Giant Silver  Kings.

The season has came out with a bang with these  Summer like temps.  Nice light winds, and every species is chewing.

Don't forget we are still doing evening trips, it is still early in the season, and those fishing packages are a great value, and check it out on my homepage at www.boneranger.com, and/or you can call me at 305-664-5891.

Make the trip, it is explosive and great time of the year  for bonefish, permit, and those Giant Silver Kings, Tarpon!!

The season is here and runs right through this month, and June, and July.

Book early, don't wait to the last minute, guides are getting busy, so make sure to hone onto some great dates and bait them hooks, or step up a notch and try flyfishing for those great saltwater gamefish.

Till next report, always tight lines, and keep reeling,
